Another Friday’s rolled ’round, and with it closes another busy week here in the Yovia network. Here’s a taste of what we’ve been up to:

Things are really hopping around the Yovia network. Let’s cut straight to the action!
Capcom has done it again, kept the ever-popular Resident Evil series going. The Resident Evil hero, Chris Redfield returns and is embarking on another adventure, this one taking him across the globe. The game is set to be released in Japan on March 12th 2009 and in North America and Europe on March 13th 2009. The game was created to be played on Xbox360 and PS3 and will have a similar game play to Resident Evil 4 as well as a setting similar to Black Hawk Down. You will also be able to play the game co-operatively and the two characters will not have to stay in the same area as in most RPG games but may even separate.
The game takes place 10 years after the outbreak of the original Resident Evil. The setting is an unnamed African country near a line of active volcanoes. This being said, in the trailer many of the zombies had African descent, meaning a darker skin tone. When people saw the trailer and the zombies being of darker color they were quick to call for a racial wrong doing on the part of Capcom and the new producer Jun Takeuchi. It would only be natural for zombies in a setting in Africa to be of African descent. In Resident Evil 4 the zombies were Spanish, yet no one believed it to be racist. To the many die-hard gamers who know of Takeuchi and Capcom’s work they know better than to think this could be the case. Takeuchi did Onimusha and has a credible background in the gamer world. Although this came up has a controversy Takeuchi denies that the comments claiming racism had any partake in the altering of the game design.

World of Warcraft fans are excited about the new expansion pack Wrath of The Lich King coming out and even more excited about the beta testing available. With the Burning Crusade expansion there was a random drawing to see who was able to participate in the beta testing. This time they are having people apply to be a part of the testing. This expansion brings new level cap, new continent, a new class and so much more.
The expansion brings a level cap of 80 as opposed to 70 from the Burning Crusades. They are raising the profession cap to 450. These new levels of characters mean more spells, abilities, and items. More interesting to me then the level caps is the new class Death Knight. Death Knights are a hero class and are only available to people with a character level 55 or up. People will be able to create one Death Knight per realm, and the Death Knights start at 55 with a great list of spells. Instead of rage or mana these characters will use a new rune system to cast. There are three rune types that have been confirmed blood, frost, and unholy. The new system requires different runes for different spells and the runes have a cool down period.
There is a new continent Northrend which is crescent shaped and in North Azeroth. This frozen wasteland is not a place where low levels should venture since the lowest level content is aimed for characters who have hit 68. Northrend is home to the lich king and his army of undead and evil vampiric half-giants called Vrykul. The forsaken are going to be seeking revenge for that whole slavery thing so expect to see them around with new quests that will gain favor for you in the eyes of the forsaken faction. Spekaing of factions there are two new factions the Speartusk and the Taunka. Taunka are related to our favorite race of bovine the Tauren.
Some other things that the expansion brings are a battle with the Lich King at the Frozen Throne, siege weapons and destructible buildings for PvP, the ability to transform your hero’s look with new hairstyles and dances, a non-instanced Battleground, and an improved Graphics Engine. All in all it looks like Wrath of The Lich King will meet all expectations. Remember it’s a great day to be Horde.

We’re nearing the holiday, but that hasn’t slowed us down! Here’s what we’ve been up to around the Yovia network so far this week:

June 27, 2008
It’s the last weekend in June, and what a busy month it’s been! We’re picking up steam as time goes by; here’s what’s up around the Yovia network:
Have you ever heard of TechCrunch’s “Elevator Pitches?” I had not, until yesterday afternoon when the CEO of Yovia came down from his top floor, magnificent view, warm and cozy with an espresso machine, office and asked for my help to record a video. Excited by the prospect of stepping away from my computer and relaxing my bloodshot and tired eyes for a moment I jumped up and followed him upstairs.
He was going to record a video to submit to TechCrunch Elevator Pitches describing Yovia. I listened in awe at the grander picture. Listening to him speak, I thought to myself, “He did it! We are exactly what and where he’d always promised he would take us.”
Don’t forget to Check out the Video!
