jacquelinezenn.wordpress.com I’m 24 years old and a writer, blogger, and all-around creative type living in Chicago who subscribes wholeheartedly to the philosophy that “twenty years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than the ones you did do.” Naturally this has led me to make plenty of mistakes over the years, but at least I have some good stories to tell. This is my personal blog, where I share these stories, other writing of mine, organize my thoughts on various topics, and generally post about everything that doesn’t quite fit into my other work.

Welcome back to our Friday edition of our Digg round-up, where we bring you the latest buzz around the Yovia network. Here’s what’s happening:
“How do I increase the chances of getting a blog post to the front page of Digg?”
Let me begin with a disclaimer: I am in no way guarantying you success on Digg - but from my experience this is the KEY DIGG FACTOR. The person who submits your post to Digg is the key Digg factor in how well it does.
There are two kinds of diggers in the blogosphere: Power Diggers and small time Diggers. The power Diggers have an arsenal of friends that will Digg their article for the sake of staying on good terms. So what happens when a Power Digger submits a story? It gets seen by their friends on Digg and voted up quickly. However the value of a friend Digg is less than Zambian curency in the digg market. Small Time Diggers have little to know friends but are of great value. If a smalltime Digger submits your article and a power Digger Diggs it followed by his arsonal you have non friends digging. Your article is now salebrity status being Dugg b/c of the content not the friendship. 30 of these organic Diggs could be as valuable as 300 friend Diggs. This is where you realize that it’s not about how many people you can get to Digg a story from your network that matters but whether you’ve actually written something that appeals to Diggers out side your network.

Participation of social networks continues to drastically grow, though more slowly than the previous years, as more people continue to communicate and connect with other individuals online. Currently, it is said that over half of American ages 15-34 are actively using online social networks. They are spending on average more than seven hours per week on websites like Facebook and MySpace and driving growth of overall time spent online. Americans that are 35 and over, this statistic drops, but still represents ten of millions of people.
The fact of the matter of this is that social networks are not fading and are going to be around for a while. Social marketers need to be aware of this increasing value and consistency for Americans within social networks. They need to understand that in these networks consumers are becoming experts on understanding what is spam, purely commercial compared to truly genuine.
Commitment is what it comes down to for social marketers. When someone is truly committed to something they are sincere and genuine. This is what consumers will latch on to; I like to call it the “hook line and sinker”. Maintaining a time consuming and robust existence on these social networks is task, but by putting forth the effort your audience will connect with you better. Therefore, don’t skimp on the time commitment, it is important in connecting with and reaching these growing demographics of social networks.

The Jacksonville Jaguars emerged as a Super Bowl contender from the AFC in the late 1990’s after coming into the NFL as an expansion team in 1995. After failing to reach “the big game”, the Jags had trouble making the playoffs after the 1999 season and have come on strong in the recent years as a Super Bowl contender once again. This year, after acquiring some key players to boost the offense (Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson) and drafting two defensive ends to help the pass rush in Derrick Harvey (even though he is still holding out of camp) and Quentin Groves, the Jaguars look better than ever and ready to unseat the Colts as the AFC South Division winner. They have a solid secondary with Reggie Nelson, Rashean Mathis, Brian Williams, and Pro-Bowl acquisition corner Drayton Florence. Mike Peterson and Daryl Smith lead Clint Ingram and Justin Durant at their very powerful linebacker positions. Veteran Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew lead one of the best rushing tandems in the NFL while David Garrard is their unquestioned leader in his first season as the outright starting quarterback. There are some aspects that need to be questioned such as the recieving corps. as Reggie Williams has been out of camp because of a knee injury, Jerry Porter is missing the preseason with hamstring surgery, and Matt Jones is having off the field troubles. The positives about these issues is that they will let newcomer Troy Williamson, a former 1st-round draft pick, vet Dennis Northcutt, and Mike Walker, last year’s third round pick who missed the year with a knee injury, to step up into higher roles to improve the passing game. Another question is if the pass rush can be improved as hoped. With Harvey holding out, Groves needs to step up as a solid contributor while Paul Spicer, Reggie Hayward, and John Henderson need to provide that veteran leadership with solid play to help the Jags pressure the opposing teams which they have failed to do in the past. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a force to be reckoned with in the 2008 season and if they picked up where they left off, this team can be a very powerful Super Bowl contender.
