resident_evil_5_poster_by_xakuu.jpgCapcom has done it again, kept the ever-popular Resident Evil series going. The Resident Evil hero, Chris Redfield returns and is embarking on another adventure, this one taking him across the globe. The game is set to be released in Japan on March 12th 2009 and in North America and Europe on March 13th 2009. The game was created to be played on Xbox360 and PS3 and will have a similar game play to Resident Evil 4 as well as a setting similar to Black Hawk Down. You will also be able to play the game co-operatively and the two characters will not have to stay in the same area as in most RPG games but may even separate.

The game takes place 10 years after the outbreak of the original Resident Evil. The setting is an unnamed African country near a line of active volcanoes. This being said, in the trailer many of the zombies had African descent, meaning a darker skin tone. When people saw the trailer and the zombies being of darker color they were quick to call for a racial wrong doing on the part of Capcom and the new producer Jun Takeuchi. It would only be natural for zombies in a setting in Africa to be of African descent. In Resident Evil 4 the zombies were Spanish, yet no one believed it to be racist. To the many die-hard gamers who know of Takeuchi and Capcom’s work they know better than to think this could be the case. Takeuchi did Onimusha and has a credible background in the gamer world. Although this came up has a controversy Takeuchi denies that the comments claiming racism had any partake in the altering of the game design.
